On Thursday 18 August Sixth Form students at Mary Hare School celebrated as results were announced for A-Levels, BTECs and Technical Qualifications.

This year we have seen an overall pass rate of 92 % for grades A* to E at A-level, and an astonishing 100% pass rate for students studying a wide range of BTEC and vocational qualifications

This year‘s results are even more poignant for the students as they have demonstrated a motivation to adapt and succeed in their education following the last two years of disruption and challenges due to the pandemic. There are many success stories to be celebrated as all students have been offered their first-choice University placement, while other students will be taking their next steps in College, Apprenticeships and employment.

One student, James Keer, achieved A* in Mathematics, A in Chemistry and a B in History and will now be taking the exciting next step of studying Chemistry at Durham University. ‘I'm really happy with my results - it's been a tough 2 years with the pandemic, but Mary Hare supported me throughout. I owe a lot to Mary Hare's teachers, therapists and care staff - the school has been life-changing for me.‘

Principal Peter Gale, says,"‘Covid increased the challenges for all students nationally, but it particularly impacted on deaf students who struggled enormously to access online lessons. These results demonstrate resilience and a strong determination to succeed."

I am very pleased by the pupils' performance in these examinations. Deafness has a massive impact on language development, and the language required in the teaching, learning and assessment of all these courses provides a very great challenge to students and staff. The results show that, working together and in the right environment, these difficulties can be overcome"

"Students, their families, and staff have worked together to achieve these results and I thank them all for their contributions. I also hope the results will be celebrated by Local Authorities who fund the places from around the country."

From all of the staff at Mary Hare, we would like to send a huge congratulations to all of our students.
