Performing Arts
Course details
You will investigate the work of practitioners who work in the industry exploring what and how they do it. You will develop the skills and Techniques for Live Performance following the creative process from inspiration, through rehearsal to final sharing. Planning and taking part in group performance workshops is also mandatory.
This BTEC course can be up to the equivalent of 1.5 A Levels and will cover a range of skills and units which will be tailored to your interests allowing you to specialise in Dance or Drama or Music.
For example:
• Group Performance
• Live Performance
• Dance styles: Classical Ballet or Street or Contemporary or Tap
• Acting: Improvising, Directing, Acting for Screen, Physical Theatre
• Storytelling and or Audio Performance
• Musical Theatre and or vocal techniques
• Stand-up Comedy Technique and or variety performance
• Puppetry and or performing with Masks
In short, at Mary Hare our aim is to enable you to gain knowledge, understanding and practical skills based on whatever type of Performing is your super-skill.
Entry requirements
A GCSE in any of Dance or Drama or Music.
A love of performing and 4 GCSEs at grade 4.
Course assessment
There will be one or two tasks or performances set and marked externally.
Each term an assignment will be set and marked internally.
