Course details
This Diploma has four specialist pathways:
1. IT Infrastructure Technician
2. Emerging Digital Technology Practitioner
3. Application Developer
4. Data Analyst
The course is designed in collaboration with experts spanning the breadth of the sector, the Cambridge Technicals in IT focuses on the skills, knowledge and understanding that today’s universities and employers demand.
The course is taught by qualified and experienced staff, the majority of whom have an ICT and Business background. You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations.
The school has a good network with up-to-date computers and the department has access to three dedicated IT/Computing teaching rooms.
There is also a range of computing facilities available outside of lessons. Facilities include popular office software, professional web development and graphics programmes, internet access and smartboards. We also use video and digital cameras.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements, however it is desirable for students to have studied IT at GCSE.
Course assessment
You will learn through case studies, group work and presentations before completing assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, which are centre assessed.
At the end of the course, during the summer exams, you have two examinations on the core units Unit 1 and Unit 2.
You need to pass both exams and the assignments to achieve the Diploma.
