Course details

Unit 1: A British Period Study and Enquiry. 
England 1455-1509: Lancastrians, Yorkists and Henry VII.
Enquiry Topic: Wars of the Roses 1455-1461

Unit 2: Non-British period study. 
Democracy and Dictatorship in Germany 1919-1963.

Unit 3: Thematic study and historical interpretations
Popular culture and the Witchcraze of the 16th and 17th centuries. 
Change and continuity over a substantial period of history with depth studies (England, Germany and Salem)

Unit 4: Topic based essay. Non exam.
This unit brings together all of the skills you have learnt in History and enables you to explore an aspect of history that interests you.

Entry requirements
Students are required to have five GCSE grades 1 - 9. 

This should include a good pass in English and History (Grade 5). Students must also have an interest in the subject and in worldwide events in order to get the most out of this course.

Course assessment

A Level: 
Unit 1 - 1 hour 30 minute paper (25% of total A Level)
Unit 2 -1 hour paper (15% of total A level)
Unit 3 - 2 hour 30 minutes paper (40% of total A Level)
Unit 4 - Complete a 4000 word essay on a topic of your choice. (20% of total A Level)
