Drama
Course details
Component 1 – Theatre Workshop
Students choose a play to explore, before selecting an extract for re-interpretation. This could mean changing it to a different time in history or place in the world. There will be an assessment on the performance and the creative log detailing
the process.
Component 2 – Text In Action
Students develop two performances – one devised piece, inspired by a stimulus; the other an extract from a play. Assessment is based on the performance and a written evaluation.
Component 3 – Text in Performance
A written paper in three parts.
• Part A comprises two questions on a play text that students have studied.
• Part B is one longer question, requiring students to explain how they might adapt an extract from a play.
• Part C is about staging a scene from The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time.
