Course details
These are City and Guilds NVQ Cookery courses at Level 1 and Level 2. The course is modular and flexible and we make a wide variety of dishes. All aspects of a career in Hospitality are covered, from kitchen safety to customer service.
You’ll cover topics such as:
• Food safety
• Effective teamwork
• Preparation, cooking and finishing cakes, vegetables and pasta
• Health, safety and security in a working environment
You’ll also go to work. One of the core aims of the course is to help you be work-ready. Your course includes different work placements and the work you do is assessed as part of your course.
We have links with some fantastic local businesses to give students a variety of different work environments in the Hospitality Industry. Included in the course are exciting masterclasses from visiting chefs and trips out to see behind the scenes in local businesses.
We provide any specialist clothing required including Catering specific footwear.
Entry requirements
No formal entry requirements are needed, however prior experience is an advantage.
Course assessment
The course is practical based with evidence gathered continually over the 24 months.
Evidence is collected through photos, video, recorded interviews and written.
