Art & Design: Textile Design

Course details

Students will produce practical and critical/contextual work in one or more areas of study, for example, fashion design, fashion textiles, costume design, digital textiles, printed and/or dyed fabrics and materials, domestic textiles, wallpaper, interior design, constructed textiles, art textiles and installed textiles.

You will be guided through your coursework and contextual studies. Individual tuition and back-up technical support in addition to coursework notes will be provided. We would like you to keep and develop sketchbooks to record your artistic journey.

You will produce a body of work for all units, following the art process from initial research and starting points, through development and experimentation towards a final response in the form of a finished piece.

Alongside your development work, you will also research a range of relevant artists to gain inspiration for your own creative ideas and themes. Regular visits are arranged to both local and national exhibitions at Art Galleries and Museums. Artist workshops and talks are arranged for students.
