Develop Theoretical and practical skills that form the foundation of media studies and underpin the work that will be completed in components 1,2 and 3.
Theoretical skills related to Media Language, Representation, (representation of Hero/Villain in Luther) Audience (who reads what in newspapers) and Institution (who owns what in newspapers).
Practical skills developed – the use of Cameras to create own shot size chart and create and analyse compositions related to the rule of thirds, symmetrical and asymmetrical, static and dynamic.
Lighting and mise en scene.
Denotation and Connotation.

Choose one project to complete from a range of projects released in March in Year 10.
Pre-Production
Discuss issues that might arise from each chosen project.
Research existing products that reflect chosen Brief.
Complete paperwork for chosen idea – outline proposal.
Plan production using appropriate methods.
Create flat plans, wire diagrams, storyboards as appropriate.
Production
Create elements that will be used in final production.

Focus on Component 2 first (30% of total mark).
