Lessons cover key beliefs, the life of Muhammad (PBUH) and the Five Pillars of Islam. 

Year 9

Buddhism- Learning about a Religion

Lessons cover key beliefs, the life of Prince Siddartha Gautama and religious artefacts.

Autumn 2

Year 7

Christianity- Learning about a Religion

Lessons cover ideas about God, prayer and Christian festivals. 

Year 8

Islam- Learning about a Religion

Lessons cover ideas about Allah, prayer and Muslim festivals.

Year 9

Buddhism- Learning about a Religion

Lessons cover ideas about the Dharma, the Eightfold Path and the lifestyle of Buddhist monks and nuns.

Spring 1

Lessons cover the timeline of Jesus and the significant events of his life.

Year 8

Islam- Learning about a Religion

Lessons cover Islamic culture such as clothing and diet/food.

Year 9

World Religions Project

Learners chose one religion to research and do a presentation on. These presentations are shown to a small audience with cultural food, drink and music. 

Spring 2

Year 7

Christianity- Learning about a Religion

Lessons cover ideas of miracles, sin and temptation. 

Year 8

Prejudice and Discrimination

Lessons cover the different types of discrimination and explore real-life examples. 

Year 9

World Religions Project

Learners chose one religion to research and do a presentation on. These presentations are shown to a small audience with cultural food, drink and music. 

Summer 1

Year 7

The Lion King- Learning from the film

Lessons cover spiritual ideas including initiation, boundaries and symbolism. 

Year 8

Prejudice and Discrimination

Lessons explore the life of Nelson Mandela (or another significant person who has faced prejudice and discrimination) and learners design their own anti-discrimination campaigns. 

Year 9

Believing in God

Lessons cover reasons for belief in God and reasons for agnosticism and atheism.

Summer 2

Year 7

The Lion King- Learning from the film

Lessons cover spiritual ideas about death/the circle of life and mottos. Learners design their own t-shirts. 

Year 8

Prejudice and Discrimination

Lessons explore the life of Nelson Mandela (or another significant person who has faced prejudice and discrimination) and learners design their own anti-discrimination campaigns.

Believing in God

Lessons cover prayer, miracles, upbringing, explanations for the start of the world and the Christian response to evil and suffering.
