Assistant Head Primary School
Leadership
BackRachel joined Mary Hare School in 2013. She qualified as a Teacher of the Deaf in 2017 having undertaken her ToD at Mary Hare. Rachel previously worked as a Teaching Assistant in various schools with deaf children and young people for around 10 years. Alongside a real passion for the outdoors and working at summer camps for the NDCS, some time abroad unexpectedly led Rachel into teaching. She subsequently studied at Bath Spa University and Canterbury University and completed her final teaching placement at Mary Hare in 2013.
Rachel is deaf and is passionate about advocating for and working directly with deaf children and young people to make a difference. As a deaf role model, fostering a sense of belonging and a love of learning encourages the deaf children and young people at Mary Hare to realise their own aspirations and ambitions to believe in themselves and navigate their own unique journeys to succeed in whatever they choose to do.
