Rachel Sheen is a qualified Teacher of the Deaf and has been Head of Primary at Mary Hare since January 2023.  Rachel studied for a 1st class honours degree in Psychology with child language development at Bangor University and then completed her Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) at Oxford Brookes University.  

Rachel taught in all KS1 and KS2 mainstream provision for 6 years before joining Mary Hare. Rachel previously was UKS2 leader and Maths Coordinator in mainstream primary of over 300 pupils.   Rachel joined Mary Hare Primary in 2017 as Maths Coordinator and became Assistant Head in 2018. Rachel qualified as a Teacher of the Deaf in 2019.  She has worked with children with a variety of SEND through her work at Mary Hare and through previous employment at West Berkshire Mencap. She has experience of supporting children with a variety of complex needs.  

During her time at Mary Hare, she has worked alongside many professionals, including, but not limited to: Speech Therapists, Teachers of the VI and MSI, Occupational therapists, Physiotherapists and counselling services to ensure the holistic needs of a child/young person are considered.
