Lisa started her career as a Teacher of the Deaf in 1997 at Mary Hare School for Deaf Children.  Lisa qualified as an Educational Audiologist in 2002.  Her Master’s dissertation was an examination of the validity of using SIFTER (Screening Instrument For Targeting Educational Risk; Karen L Anderson) as a screening tool for (C)APD.

During her 16 years working at Mary Hare, Lisa worked in two roles: Teacher of Mathematics and as part of the Audiology team as an Educational Audiologist. 

In 2013 Lisa joined the Berkshire Sensory Consortium Service as a Teacher of the Deaf, maintaining a small caseload, but working primarily as the Service’s Educational Audiologist.  This role is varied in scope, but a fundamental aspect of it  is to enable and enhance effective multidisciplinary working practices in order to drive better long term outcomes for deaf children and their families.  To facilitate this Lisa works in joint (Health and Education) under 5 years, Audiology clinics for children with a diagnosed hearing loss.  This enables collaborative working with the Clinical Audiological Scientists to provide seamless Team Around the Child care for the children and their families. 

Another part of Lisa’s role is to provide technical and audiological support for Teacher of the Deaf colleagues within the Service and also within the five Hearing Resource Bases in mainstream schools in Berkshire.  She puts together biannual large scale training in the form of Technical Updates, alongside smaller bespoke surgery-style support throughout the year. 

Lisa has been a contributing lecturer on the Oxford Brookes/University of Hertfordshire/Mary Hare Training Services Educational Audiology and Teacher of the Deaf courses since 2005.  Since 2018 she has been a Module Leader on the Educational Audiology Masters programme, leading on the Modules: Educational Audiology in Practice (Year 1) and Multi-Disciplinary and Family Friendly Working (Year 2) 

At National level, Lisa was asked by BATOD in January 2022 to contribute a presentation around the theme of Assistive Listening Technology in the Early Years to their virtual webinar series.  She has also written and contributed to articles in the BATOD magazine.  Lisa was part of the team of key contributors to the updated Audiology Refreshers which went live in 2023 and she sits on the Assistive Listening Technology Working Group (ALTWG), BAEA (and locally SEAG).
